LOD Range Wednesday, October 06, 2004

There is now a new tool in the downloads section that lets you load in MDL files and edit the ranges over which each level of detail (LOD) of the model will be used.

This tool has been kindly provided by Rcortada and Victor Carretero.

Very awesome! Thanks guys, this is a great tool. The original automatic system doesn't really do well unless you have many LOD. This is perfect!

How can I test LOD Range??

What do you mean? Test which LOD the engine will be using? Or do you mean, how can you see your LODs in the game to make sure they are set at sensible distances?

Tank You Ken, but I have not License...
I see only "Buy license to download".
I'm a Student and for me "Level of Details"
is a very interressant Tema. If LOD Range realy works...

yes you need to be a licensed developper(you need a copy of cipher)of cipher to download this tool.

However, you may have misunderstood what the tool does. It does not generate new versions of meshes at lower levels of detail. It allows Cipher developers to load up Cipher models with multiple LODs in them and adjust the distance over which each of the LODs in the model is used for.
